A specialist real estate and construction recruitment company enlisted Payfor Ltd to recover a significant outstanding balance of $81,875 from a New Jersey real estate development company. The debt was tied to three executive placements, including one ongoing hire and another who had been taken on without the appropriate disclosure—actions that directly violated the original recruitment agreement.
Recovery proceedings began in July 2023, following the debtor’s failure to meet their contractual obligations despite multiple notices. Payfor Ltd issued formal demand letters and engaged with the company’s executive team in an effort to resolve the matter amicably.
With no meaningful cooperation from the debtor, the case was escalated. Payfor referred the matter to legal counsel based in New York, initiating a decisive litigation strategy that included filing a formal complaint and naming both the company and its principal as defendants.
The legal pressure applied prompted renewed engagement from the debtor. In October 2023, Payfor negotiated a financial settlement, resulting in the recovery of $42,500. While this amount represented a partial resolution, it marked a significant recovery given the circumstances and successfully brought an end to a previously stalled debt dispute.
Notably, this was achieved without the need for a full trial.
